Edward III (1327-77), third (Florin) coinage, 1344-51, gold coinage, January-July 1344, Half-Florin or Helm, 1.72g, London, Helm on a field of fleur-de-lis, surmounted by a crowned leopard left, head facing, edwr : r : angl : z : franc : d : hib, double annulet stops, rev. + exaltabitvr : in : gloria, floriate cross, arms extending from central quatrefoil within which a pellet, double annulet stops (BMC 1864,0713.17 (Murchison)-same dies; Schneider -; N.1107; S.1478), edge crimped between 3 and 5 o´clock, good detail, nearly very fine, extremely rare, the smallest denomination of the first issue of English gold coins, the fourth known and the only example outside a Museum
