Palestine Currency Board, specimen £50, 7 September 1939, red serial number A000000, purple and pale green, the White Tower at Ramleh at left, value at centre in pale brown guilloche, value at each corner, three printed signatures low centre of Sir John Caulcutt, Sir Percy Ezchiel and H.F. Downie, the members of the Palestine Currency Board, reverse purple and green, the Citadel of Jerusalem with the Tower of David at centre, value at left and right and low centre
(Pick 10cs, Dabbah unlisted, p.220 for similar) this is a newly discovered unknown variety of the 1939 £P50 Palestine Currency Board note, bearing the sans serif (small) typeface serial number which is differ from the previously known circulation note of serif (large) typeface style of £P50 note. Of a great numismatic importance, the note believed to be the "missing link" of the 1939 series and the evidence that such a note was indeed printed and released into general circulation. (Refer to Dabbah´s article, Currency Notes of the Palestine Currency Board - an Unknown 1939 £P50 Variety, IBNS, volume 54, number 4, 2012, pp.13-14). the 1939 £P50 Palestine Currency Board specimen notes are extremely rare by their own as only two are known extant, one of the circulation serif (large) typeface style serial number (mounted in PCB specimen notes book) and the discussed note.
