China 1900, no clasp (216 Gnr: J. Doherty. 5th. Sec: Maxims), good very fine
216 Gunner James Doherty, born Templemore, Londonderry, 1880; enlisted in the Royal Horse Artillery, July 1899; posted to a Galloping Maxim Battery, and served with the 5th Maxim Section in China, from 15.9.1900; discharged, 3.11.1911, after 12 years and 110 days' service; later re-enlisted for service with the Royal Garrison Artillery during the Great War.
Approximately 45 China Medals to the 5th Maxim Section.
