622 Rifleman Thomas McCarthy, born Cork, 1870; enlisted in the North Cork Rifles, 9th (Militia) Battalion, King's Royal Rifle Corps, April 1887; served with the Battalion in South Africa from 1.2.1900; invalided back to Ireland, 21.9.1900; discharged, 8.4.1901, after 14 years' service.
