4273522 Fusilier John Metcalf, the son of Gunner Nicholas Dobson Metcalf, Royal Artillery, and Annie Jane Metcalf, of Prudhoe on Tyne, Northumberland; served with the 8th Battalion, Royal Northumberland Fusiliers during the Second World War; taken Prisoner of War at Dunkirk; died in captivity in Poland, 4.10.1942, and is buried in Krakow Rakowicki Cemetery, Poland.
