Cayman Islands The John Byl Collection The Rural Post "rural post" (Type RP1) handstamp 1909 (14 Dec.) envelope to Mobile, Alabama and redirected to Cuba, bearing 1908 2 1/2d. ultramarine cancelled with a fine strike of the boxed "rural post/collection./cayman islands." handstamp in violet and by Georgetown c.d.s., the reverse with Mobile arrival and despatch d.s. (14.1), and Mariel arrival c.d.s. (18.1); the envelope partially truncated at right. The earliest recorded Rural Post cover and one of two known covers addressed overseas correctly cancelled with both the Rural Post handstamp and c.d.s.
