Cayman Islands 1900 Queen Victoria Issue Issued Stamps 1d. rose-carmine cancelled by large part light "grand cayman/cayman islands" double-ring d.s. (Type 3a) dated "ja 7/01", fine. A rare usage before the official date of issue. Photo Estimate £ 100-120 Note: These stamps were dispatched from England on 17 August 1900, receipt of which was acknowledged on 20 November, with the official date of issue being 19 February 1901. Examples of these stamps are known cancelled on 15 November and 1 December 1900 which shows that they were on sale some three months before the issue date. In fact they were being sold very soon after they arrived from England and before the acknowledgment of receipt was sent.
