Great Britain1840 One Penny BlackPlate IIPL (constant variety) tied by red Maltese Cross on envelope, with enclosure, dated 20 July 1840, from London to South Shields, red "T.P/Bond St" on the front, re-addressed on arrival to Barnard Castle and additionally franked 1d. Plate IV QA (double letter Q), slightly cut into at top, showing a portion of the adjoining stamp at right, tied by another red Maltese Cross, the additional franking is somewhat stained but a scarce re-addressed cover.
