Lithuania1887 envelope registered from Vilna to Batavia, addressed to a sailor on board a Dutch ship care of the British Consulate, redirected to Cape Town, where it was evidently damaged (Russian stamp missing) and lost, "found open and officially/closed in G.P.O." strip with "cape town/cape colony" datestamp of 5 April 1893; faults as would be expected but a remarkable letter.
