General Pienaar air crash at Lake Victoria, Italian P.O.W. card from Private Pitt to East London, somewhat crumpled and damaged and accompanied by an Army Postal Service East Africa Command explanatory slip stating "The accompanying Postcard was recovered a few days ago from the aircraft which crashed into Lake Victoria on 19 December 1942. The crash resulted in the unfortunate death of general Pienaar and his companions. Very rare with only a handful of examples recorded. Nierinck 421219. Photo
