Great BritainCollections and RangesA fine array of dummy stamps comprising 1891 De La Rue Mercury Head die proofs (5) in green, blue, red, orange and brown, each on glazed card (60x92mm.); 1885 De La Rue QV dummy stamp block of four and single in green and blue-green respectively, and King of Portugal head block of four (each stamp defaced) in mauve; colour proofs based on Inland Revenue design in corner blocks of four (4) in green, blue, mauve and red; 1910 De La Rue Mercury Head perforated marginal block of twenty-four and two vertical strips of eight in dull purple and another vertical strip of eight in carmine, all showing five different backgrounds to the head; and 1922 winged Mercury imperforate and perforated (6) proofs used for the 1923 London International Stamp Exhibition in various colours. Also GB 2½d. stationery envelope marked "Sample attached to contract dated 24 July 1889" and signed by Thomas Andros De La Rue, the then Chairman of DLR & J.S. Purcell. A splendid lot
