Great BritainMail to Foreign DestinationsItaly1863 (23 Oct.) entire to Milan franked 2d. Plate 9, 1847-54 10d. (cut square, touched at places) and 1862-64 1/- with London "12" in barred oval cancellations, red "p.d." in oval, transit and arrival markings on reverse, horizontal filing fold well clear of the adhesives and a trifle soiled, fine and rare. The 10d. embossed became obsolete on 1 Jan. 1855 when the ½oz. letter rate to France was reduced from 10d. to 4d. One of only four recorded covers bearing the embossed 10d. from the "re-issue" period. Photo
