The Profile Head 1912-24 Watermark Royal Cypher One Penny Perforated Colour Trials, 1912 The following eight lots comprise a lower right corner block of twelve (6x2), unless otherwise stated, with Control "C/X 8/12" in the lower margin, together with a 1d. stamp of King Edward VII which was left imperforate. All are on gummed watermarked paper In pale scarlet-vermilion and, on reverse, each handstamped "Colour Trial A" in red and with pencil "M/B Scarlet 25568" in selvedge; the upper row with horizontal bend, otherwise fresh and fine. Extremely rare Estimate £ 10,000-12,000 Note: Only two sheest of these trials were produced, and a complete sheet of each shade is in the Royal Philatelic collection. The blocks offered here in combination with the Edward VII impression are all unique in private hands.
