South Australia A collection of Travelling Post Office marks, comprising 1864 (20 Jan.) envelope from Shea Oak Log (near Gawler) to Adelaide, bearing rouletted 2d. and showing despatch c.d.s. on face, the reverse with a superb strike of the unframed "p.o. railway/2/s.a." c.d.s., 1884 Court of Insolvency wrapper envelope (opened-out) from Port Augusta to Point Lawly and redirected with manuscript "Left Pt. Lawly Try Port Germanie", franked with 1d. showing Court of Insolvency cachet alongside "unclaimed" h.s. and showing fine "p.a. railway" squared-circle d.s. and four other datestamps, and 1912 (Mar.) 1d. olive-green letter card from Orroroo to Victoria cancelled by fine "p.a. railway" c.d.s., 1885 large part envelope fom Kandina to England franked at 6d. and showing, on reverse (part only), a fine strike of the "kadina railway/2" squared-circle d.s. (the earliest date recorded), 1896 envelope from Renmark (South of Hamley Bridge) to England franked at 2 1/2d. and showing, on reverse, "kadina railway/4" small c.d.s. confirming that mail guards "jumped the guage" at Hamley Bridge, and 1906 envelope to U.S.A. franked at 2 1/2d. and showing, on reverse, fine "kadina railway/1" large c.d.s., 1900 card from Laura to Sicily, marked "Printed Matter", showing "1d/more to pay" h.s. deleted and, on face, a partially fine strike of the "p.p. railway/6" c.d.s.; 1902 1d. card to Adelaide cancelled with fine "southern railway/2" squared-circle d.s. and 1907 envelope (opened-out) from Milang to Tasmania franked at 2d. and bearing 4d. Postage Due cancelled at Hobart, the reverse showing fine "southern railway/4" squared-circle d.s.; Adelaide-Terowie: 1895 1d. card to Port Augusta cancelled with fine "terowie railway/3" c.d.s. and 1904 envelope to Tasmania bearing 1d. (2) twice cancelled with "express railway" c.d.s., 1905 and 1907 envelopes to Tasmania cancelled with Gawler Railway and Mintaro Railway squared-circle d.s. Condition mixed in places with some rebacked though an unusual group Estimate £ 250-300
