Stepney, Heydon House, [London, Corporation of the Poor], R. S., 1653 – three leopards´ heads (N.8248; BW.1939), fine, a little pitted each side, rare, the only known issue at the House Estimate £ 60-80 Heydon House was a confiscated royal property, so called as it had recently been in the possession of Sir John Heydon, Master of the Ordinance. It was presented by Parliament in 1653 to the City of London Corporation of the Poor. The three leopards´ heads are part of the Weavers´ arms. Cf. N.7783 (Part VII).
