Foreign Post Offices Japanese Post Office Foochow: 1881 (18 May) envelope to Massachussetts, U.S.A., sent via the Japanese Post Office and bears a good strike of large, double-circle "imperial japanese postal agency/foochow/china." in violet, part Japan 1876-86 5s. Koban tied by cork cancellation with a good strike of "i.j.postal agency/shanghai" c.d.s alongside and Yokohama (28.5) transit, the reverse with San Francisco transit (12.6) in red. With the original contents, from Foochow and dated 6 May; the cover roughly opened at side with part of the cover, and half of the adhesive, missing. A rare agency marking. B.P.A. Certificate (2011).
