China Large Dragons Covers 1883 (26 Dec.) opened-out envelope from the United States Legation in Peking to the U.S. Consul General in Shanghai bearing thick paper 3ca. deep vermilion tied by blue Peking seal and "united states consul general/shanghai, china" double-ring c.d.s. (10.1) in blue; the reverse with Peking, Tientsin (27.12) and Shanghai Customs c.d.s. and Shanghai Local Post in blue, along with a fine example of the U.S. Legation red wax seal. The cover has been slightly reduced at left. A magnificent cover bearing the Consul General datestamp, particularly important and desirable as it ties the adhesive so well. Ex Allen Gokson.
