China Customs Mail Matter Jenchuan 1897 (30 Aug.) envelope to London bearing a very fine strike of the double-oval "jenchuan customs.mail matter" in pale black, alongside is French "Chine" 25c. tied by "shang-hai/chine" c.d.s. with a second strike alongside; the reverse a good strike of "customs/jenchuan" c.d.s., two strike of Chefoo Dollar chop (3.9), Shanghai Dollar chop in blue (5.9), London and Tunbridge Wells, c.d.s. (14.10); the letter redirected on arrival and an unusual, large London c.d.s. also tied the French stamp. The envelope a little roughly opened at side and some minor peripheral creasing.
