x Falkland Islands 1887 (25 July) envelope to Augusta, Maine, redirected to San Francisco, marked "Via England", bearing 1885-87 4d. clearly tied by "cork" obliterator and with US 1882 2c. (straight-edge at top) tied by "cork" obliterator affixed upon redirection, showing clear "falkland/islands" double-ring d.s., red "liverpool/ship" c.d.s. (29.8), Augusta datestamp (14.9) and, on reverse, New York (10.9) and Augusta Rec´d (12.9) datestamps; the envelope with lengthy original enclosure, headed "Govt House, Stanley F.I." and written by the wife of the Governor, Thomas Kerr. A few minor peripheral faults and light stains, none of which affects significantly appearance. A wonderful exhibition item. Photo Estimate £ 4,000-5,000
