1867 Mariano Donato Munoz Medal. Gem BU. Julian PE-22. Bronze. 57.6mm. An exceptionally thick, mahogany colored medal featuring former Secretary General of the Bolivian government. The reverse inscription translates to, "Progress flourishes under the shade of peace and liberty. For the sake of peace, February 7, 1867." According to Julian only 18 examples of this medal were executed in bronze, making it all the more desirable. While calling out flaws on such a beautiful piece seems criminal, one spot above the obverse portrait is noted purely for pedigree sake. Ex. September 27, 1981 Johnson and Jenson Auction; lot 693.
