$2.50 Classic Head 1839-C 2.5 Dollars. NCS AU Details, Repaired - Improperly Cleaned. Recut 39, Winter 3-C, McCloskey-C, Breen-6150, R.3. Close inspection yields numerous light hairlines across the central portraits and into the fields. Repairing of the surfaces is not readily evident and may be referring to some tooling along the right obverse edge. Despite the problems, this date stands as a desirable coin amongst collectors as it is the only classic C-mint quarter eagle.
