Egypt Postal History The French Expedition to the Levant 1798-1801 1798 (18 Dec.) document in Arabic with French translation dated "28 brumaire an 7" signed "Bonaparte" (General in chief of the French army in Egypt 1769-1821), a petition from the Customs director of Boulac asking for assistance in recovering debts; some splits along the folds but fine. A superb exhibition showpiece and an extremely rare historical document. Apparently only eight letters with Bonaparte´s signature recorded from Egypt. Photo Estimate € 3,000-4,000
