Edward IV, first reign, light coinage, 1464-70, Groat, 3.00g, type VII/VIII, London, m.m. crown/sun, quatrefoils by neck, cross on cusp below bust, small trefoils on all cusps except at neck, no trefoil over crown, ang l z franc, saltire stops both sides (N.1571; S.2001; Blunt and Whitton VIII, 3 but a variety not recorded by them; Stewartby p.431, VIIIb), good very fine Estimate £ 200-250 Provenance: DNW auction, June 2010, lot 953 (part) This coin was found with the next one on the bank of the river Teign at Clagford in Devonshire.
