St. Helena The Boer War 1901 (23 Dec.) 1d. red card to Transvaal, cancelled with Maltese Cross in circle (CNC.8) and with a partially legible strike of the "garrison office/st. helena" double-oval d.s. partially over-cancelled with despatch c.d.s. (24.12) and Johannesburg Press Censor oval h.s., "AHBW GA" (Garrison Adjutant?) censors initials at lower left corner; a couple of small faults though very rare with only two examples apparently recorded. Also 1902 (22 Sept.) 1d. red card (faults) to Scotland from Captain John Proctor, C.G.A. (Garrison Adjutant) and a photograph entitled "Memento of the Repatriation Staff" in 1902 showing the censors at a table and their signatures, including that of John Proctor.
