1854-61 Perforated One Penny Red-Brown 1855 Introduction of Die II Imprimaturs Plate 10, AL in red-brown with corner margins showing the plate number and margin inscription, other margins are large, showing traces of bluing on reverse. Manuscript "12" in top margin. Fine Estimate £ 1,800-2,200 The manuscript number in the margin represents the number of sheets produced. These numbers no longer match the plate number because reserve plates R15 and R16 were produced around this time. These two sheets were registered on 15th January 1855, the same day as plates 1 to 4 and appear after these in the order of production. These sheets were not used until 1862. 21 stamps were removed from the imprimatur sheet, AA-AL, GK-GL, HG-HL and TL (Royal collection) provenance: AL; Earl of Crawford Colonel A.S.
