1840 One Penny Black Plate VI Covers 1841 (4 Feb.) cover bearing GL in black with good to very large margins, just tied by pen cancel on long, cross-written entire letter from Paris to Knighton, Ludlow; rated in manuscript "2/1" and a further "15" (centimes) manuscript mark over the Paris despatch c.d.s. in blue (to pay the local postage) with London arrival (6.2) on reverse. A remarkable and stunning overseas cover with the Penny Black apparently applied in Paris very rare thus Estimate £ 5,000-6,000 Note: Knighton is about ten miles to the west of Ludlow provenance: ´Maximus´, May 1970
