Mary, sole rule, Fine Sovereign, 15.28g, mdliiii (1554), m.m. pomegranate, queen, crowned with flowing hair, seated on throne flanked by two pillars, portcullis below, rev. shield over rose (Schneider 705; N.1956; S.2488), short of flan at top, good portrait, very fine, this date extremely rare Estimate £ 30,000-40,000 There are believed to be only five examples of the 1554 Sovereign in private hands.
