                        Henry VI, first reign, annulet issue, 1422-30, Groat, 3.25g, York, m.m. II/II- pierced cross, fleur on breast, lis either side of neck, rev. added annulet in second and fourth angles, annulet after eboraci and posvi (obverse die 1 / reverse die 3; N.1425; S.1838), dark tone, lightly clipped, nearly very fine, extremely rare  Estimate £   2,800-3,000    provenance  Colin Rochester, Spink auction 194,  27 March 2008, lot 553  P Finn, list, Spring 1994, no. 293  Dupree collection purchased by Spink    York annulet issue Groats are extremely rare. At the time of the Lockett sale in 1956, four were known, two of which were in the British Museum. The Reigate hoard, 1990, added five more. M. Lessen, BNJ, 1993, p.59 listed and illustrated thirteen specimens then known, with this coin plate 8, no. 4a.
