Kapunda Mining Company Ltd., group of 3 certificates for £1 5s shares, 18[63], signed by Charles Bagot, as director, scrollwork left, embossed seal, blue, about very fine with pin holes top left. (3) Kapunda, 80km north of Adelaide, was Australia´s first mining town following the discovery of copper in 1842 by Charles Bagot and Francis Dutton. Dutton sold out his interest in the mine to Bagot in 1845 leaving Bagot with a controlling stake. By 1862, the mine employed 400 but operations ceased in 1878 following the collapse in the price of copper. Estimate £ 100-150
