x East India Company, a bill of exchange dated St.Helena 1820, addressed to the Court of Directors in London, in the sum of £100 2s, printed form with manuscript insertions, signed by Hudson Lowe, Thomas Brooke and Thomas Greentree, well repaired tear in centre, creased and slightly discoloured, ink cancelled, fine and rare. St.Helena was colonised by the East India Company by charter from the British Government in 1658. Napoleon was famously exiled there on his defeat in 1815 until his death in 1821. Sir Hudson Lowe 1769-1844, soldier and Colonial administrator, Governor of St.Helena, 1815-21, gaoler of Napoleon, the handling of which he received much criticism. Estimate £ 200-300
