China Chinese Nationlist Army in India/Burma Undated envelope from Lt.-Gen. Li-Jen Sun (I/C in the Chinese Army in Burma) at the New 1st. Army Headquarters Chinese Army in India and marked as from A.P.O. 218 (Myitkyina), to General George C. Marshall in Washington and probably sent via the diplomatic mail; most unusual. Photo Estimate £ 500-600 Note: A large part of the Chinese Army was cut off from retreating to China in 1942 and went in to India. They trained with the Allies, forming the force to build and protect the Ledo Road and restoring a land link for supplies into China. A.P.O.´s were assigned for Chinese military mail. The road from Ledo crossed the India/Burma frontier on 28 February 1942 and pushed on into Burma
