                        Mongolia  Russian Post Office  Pen Cancellations  1878 (30 Jan.) opened-out red band cover to Peking  (19.2) from the Russian consulate post office in Urga bearing Russian Arms 1k., 5k. and 10k. tied by pen crosses in black ink; some cover faults at foot do not detract from the importance and rarity of this cover. This is thought to be the earliest stamped cover and the only three-colour franking with pen cancel  Estimate HK$ 100,000-120,000    Only about ten to fifteen covers are recorded with pen cancellations    provenance: E.M.
