Hong Kong Incoming Mail 1862 (9 Feb.) envelope to Hong Kong "via Marseilles paid" bearing 1855-57 6d. and 1862-64 9d. (trimmed wing margin) tied by "66" numeral of Berwick, rated "1/6" crossed through and "1/3" added, a fine strike of boxed "excc oz/deficient postage 3/british share of fine 6 in black with a fine strike of the rare boxed "colonial share of fine 6" in red (Proud 1217) and with a good strike of the handstruck "1d" in red alongside; the reverse with Berwick Station, Prestonpans, London and Hong Kong (24.3) c.d.s. Some trivial soiling, a rare and important cover. This is the earliest recorded example of this Hong Kong mark as well as one of the earliest examples of any Hong Kong instructional mark.
