Great Britain Official Stamps Inland Revenue £1 brown-lilac, JB, watermark orbs, with overprint variety blue-black from the foot of the sheet, large part original gum with the merest trace of mounting on the stamp; light dealers handstamps on reverse and pencil annotation in the selvedge "given to C Nissen"< mentioned only for accuracy> neither of which are apparent at face, faintest trace of soiling; otherwise of good fresh colour. A magnificent example of this sole recorded overprint variety for which the S.G. listing is based. A gem of the highest magnitude. One of the great rarities of British philately and a superb stamp of optimum exhibition quality. S.G. O12a (wrongly listed as 011a in 2010 concise), £160,000.
