India 1854 (1 October) Lithographed Issue A Remarkable Cover to Ireland Bearing a Complete Set of the First Issue 1855 envelope from an unknown post office "Via Southampton via Bombay" to Carrickmacross, Ireland, bearing 1854 (1 Oct.) 1/2a. pale blue/blue Die I (2), 1a. red Die I (2), 2a. green and 4a. blue and red Second Printing, all neatly cxancelled with diamond of dots, rated "1/1" and showing framed "india/paid" h.s. and London Paid c.d.s. (1.4), the reverse with 2 April c.d.s. and arrival c.d.s. (3.4), all struck in red. A few minor faults in places though a most atractive and impressive four-colour franking and extremely rare. Scheller Certificate (2007) Only one other cover, from the same correspondence, is known bearing a complete set of the first issue of India, this now being in the Singapore Postal Museum An outstanding exhibition cover of the highest calibre which would grace the best of Indian collections provenance: Christie´s Robson Lowe, December 1986 "Emerald", May 2003 Estimate £ 60,000-70,000
