$2. T-38. Cr.286. No.5037. PF-1. Judah P. Benjamin. Personification of the South striking down the Union. A nice evenly circulated example. A couple pinholes, VG. Approximately 36,000 of these $2 1861 notes were issued, in error. Perhaps 200 have survived. Blanton Duncan, the printer, thought these were to be issued as part of the September 2, 1861 series, and he put that date on the plates. CSA Treasury officials noticed the error, and ordered Duncan to make the necessary correction to June 2, 1862, the date on the Type 42 $2 notes. Estimate US$ 1,000-2,000
