$5. T-35. Cr.271. No.1142. PF-1. Indian Princess, right. Dock workers load cotton while overseer watches, left. One of the keys to completing any Confederate currency type collection, with around 100 specimens reported. Printed on low quality paper that wore out easily, and the vast majority of the survivors are in the Fair to VG range. This is a typical example, closely trimmed, and with some professional repairs, but the appearance is quite pleasing. The image of the dock workers and overseer is quite sharp, and the other design elements are bold. Has the eye appeal of a higher grade note but more appropriately can be called a Fine with minor restorations. The two rarest Confederate currency types are the Liberty, Eagle and Shield Type 27, and the Indian Princess Type 35. Only 1,790 sheets were printed, each sheet consisting of four Type 27s on the left side, and four Type 35s on the right side. The Indian Princess notes have always been the most popular, and very few have made it to the auction block or on to dealer?s price lists. Only 7,160 Indian Princess notes were issued, and only around 100 are currently known to exist. Rarely offered and always in demand. Estimate US$ 20,000-30,000
