RI. East Greenwich. Rhode Island Exchange Bank. $1-$2. Jan. 1, 1859. (RI-105 G4a, G8a). Red tint and counters. Proof on India paper. These two notes represent the bottom two notes from a four note sheet of three ones and a two. Both notes feature a grand half-length vignette of the town of East Greenwich. The $1 note also features vignettes that have been commonly seen on other Wellstood notes - Justice seated with a 1, and a farmer embracing a large 1. The $2 note shows some lesser seen vignettes, Libery and Prosperity, and a woman embracing a large 2. The red color tint makes this pair simply remarkable. WHW. Uncirculated, mounted on album paper; separation at upper right tip. Estimate US$ 2,500-5,000
