Great Britain Postal History Plymouth: an extensive collection in two very well-filled albums commencing with 1674 and 1680 entires to London, 1703 covers (3), "ply/mouth" 1756 and 1779 (2), straight-line "plymouth" used in 1782 and 1801, "219 ply/mouth" from 1785, circular type 8 (7), various mileage marks with boxed, circular and dated, some date varieties and one marked "X post", a very fine strike of the circular strike with mileage removed, several Plymouth Penny Post, "too late" in black, 1836 ship letter from China, various c.d.s. in black and in red, fine 1840 Penny Black cover, Maltese Cross postmarks, "620" numeral plus duplex with spoon (3) and sideways duplex, 1880 "More to pay" handstamp, 1883 envelope with twenty-seven attempts of delivery, 1893 Malta reply card (name excised), several picture postcards, 1940 Dunkirk mail card and many more. Condition is variable throughout but with many fine strikes and covers this would make an ideal lot for further study and development Estimate £ 1,700-2,000
