The Royal Niger Company´s Territories West African Frontier Force Borgu Military Administration the borgu local: 1905 piece bearing stamp-size piece of ruled paper with "borgu. n/1d/pte mail" h.s. in violet tied by cork cancel, in combination with Northern Nigeria 1/2d. pair tied by Zungeru c.d.s., also two other small pieces handstamped "borgu, n./1d./pte, mail" and "pte, mail/1d./borgu, n." in violet, both cancelled by part Illo c.d.s., fine. Photo Estimate £ 400-500 Note: These locals are only known used at Illo. There are two covers known, one addressed locally to Yelwa and then readdressed to England, bearing the local only. The other cover bears a local plus a Northern Nigeria 1d. addressed to England. Both covers are dated 1905. The locals are printed in violet, sometimes with commas and sometimes with full stops. It seems that the locals were valid in Borgu but required a Northern Nigeria stamp in addition if directly addressed outside Borgu.
