Sierra Leone 1872-73 Issue Essays 4d. composite essay in lilac and Chinese white, stamp-size on glazed card, the head and background (originally circular when affixed and now over-painted) printed from an existing die, the remainder of the design handpainted and the whole in a design that was approved except for the "leone" and "postage" tablets being transposed.
