Gold Coast The Ashanti Wars The Northern Territories 1900 (6 Jan.) envelope from Lt. Henderson to Ayr, bearing 1898 1d. cancelled by manuscript "Wa/25.12.99" and tied by "kintampo/gold coast" c.d.s., showing another strike in opposite corner and, on reverse, Cape Coast (28.1) and arrival (21.2) datestamps; the envelope with pieces missing from the upper left and lower right corners. Also 1900 (11 Oct.) front from Major A Morris, Commissioner and Commandant of the Northern Territories (violet handstamp at lower left) addressed to Cape Coast Castle, bearing 1889 1d. crossed by penstrokes and tied by "kintampo/gold coast" c.d.s. Estimate £ 100-120 Note: A similar cover from the same correspondence was sold in the "Ashanti" auction, lot 345. and another example in the John Forrest sale realised £500.
