x India 1911-22 Star Watermark, 1a. rose-carmine in a perforated plate proof block of sixteen on gummed, watermarked paper, one unit showing void background, unmounted mint. A rare and important block, it is thought that only two were produced. With 1924 letter from the Indian High Commission in London to India´s Controller of Stamps, "I have now been able to trace the sheet of one anna red stamps, one specimen of which has a white background ... the stamps with white background were never used".
