Great Britain 1840 One Penny Black Plate VIII LC, good to large margins all round, tied on 1840 (29 Oct.) local London entire by experimental black Maltese Cross, on arrival the wrapper turned, addressed to Charlton, Kent bearing 1840 1d. plate V, LC, good to very large margins, tied by red Maltese Cross with London datestamp (30.10). on the reverse; refolded to display the two stamps, fine. An extraordinary Penny Black cover, and believed to be the only one recorded, bearing mixed plates, and cancelled, respectively, by the red and experimental black Maltese Cross cancellations.
