Great Britain 1840 Mulready One Penny Envelopes A151, 1840 (30 Aug.) from Whitby to Yarm, faint black Maltese Cross overstruck by deep dull red Maltese Cross cancellation, dated marking on reverse; a fine and extremely rare usage of the black Maltese Cross outside London in the period when only red Maltese Crosses should have been used.
