† Great Britain Postal History Newspapers The Times 1842 (1 Oct.) with a folly from Lymington printed on page 7, reading "we wish to call the attention of our fair readers to a case in which one of themselves is materially interested. A lady who has been receiving the addresses of a gentleman, with the sanction of her uncle, with whom she resides, has been promised by the latter the sum of 3000l. on her marriage, provided she can produce postage labels, which have been used on letters, to that amount. The number required (720,000) is far too great to raise amongst her own aquaintance; but we think the ladies of England will, on the case being made known to them, exert themselves in collecting these otherwise useless scraps; any number of which sent , directed to P.S., at the Post-office, Milford near Lymington, will be thankfully received, and duly forwarded"; the spine of the paper strengthened, otherwise fine. Estimate £ 100-120
