x New South Wales used in the Moreton Bay District Rockhampton (201) 1859 (20 July) envelope to Kent, marked "Via Marseilles", bearing 1/- pale red with good margins (tear at top) clearly cancelled by "201" sunburst and showing despatch c.d.s. alongside with, on reverse, Gladstone, Sydney (29.8) and London (7.11) transit datestamps; the envelope with some light staining at upper left. Photo Estimate £ 1,500-2,000 Note: It has been suggested that this cover emanated from Gladstone, but because this office did not have a numeral obliterator at the time, the cover travelled to Rockhampton where the adhesive was cancelled. provenance: H.
