Orange Free State 1890 (Dec.) - 91 "1d" Surcharges Second and Third Settings, 1d. on 3d. Ultramarine A small study comprising basic Types a, b and c (2, one with another Type c and a in a strip of three) mint, and Type a used with Bethuli c.d.s. for 20 March 1891, possibly the earliest recorded date of use; variety surcharge double Type a mint (2) and used (2, one very close); surcharge misplaced horizontally used strip of three and a vertical pair; wide spaced "1" and "d", the centre stamp in a strip of three and two singles (one on piece with 2d. pair), all used; dropped "d" used bottom left serif to "1" damaged and tail of "d" damaged, contained in a lower left corner block of four, both mint; a few faults in places though generally good to fine. Also two forgeries. R.P.S. Certificate (1982) for wide spaced "1" and "d" strip. S.G. 54, 55, £670+ Estimate £ 200-250
