Antarctica 1915 American "Carnegie" Expedition 1917 (May) envelope (ship´s engraved pennant on flap) registered from Capt. J.C. Ault in Buenos Aires to his wife in Washington, Kansas, marked "From Capt. J.C. Ault Yacht Carnegie Buenos Aires" and franked at 24c., the reverse with despatch, New York (31.5) and arrival (3.6) d.s.; unusual. Photo Estimate £ 500-600 Note: Capt. Ault acted as Commander for this expedition sponsored by the Carnegie Institute to carry out scientific research in the Antarctic. The expedition completely circumnavigated the Antarctic continent and confirmed research done previously by the British and German expeditions
