Antarctica 1901-04 British National Antarctic Expedition by Robert F. Scott Postcards "The Weekly Press" First Series black on yellow card "Rattling Down The Discovery´s Rigging" (Wharton DC-3) from Len Burgess to Christchurch, marked "Sunday Jan. 17th. 1904 H.M.S. Morning Antarctic Relief Ship Lat. 77.4.49.0 S" with message "We are as far South as we can get. The ice is 19ft. thick where the Discovery is, 15 miles from here, it is 10ft. thick here", bearing Universal 1d. cancelled in transit Lyttelton on 4 April and on arrival the same day; a wonderful card written just the day after Discovery was released from the ice.
